Working hard or hardly working….

This is one of those weeks where nothing seems to be happening when in fact there is a lot happening. Funny enough, it’s internal and external at the same time. Okay, I’ll explain myself better.

External: one novel is at my agent, being checked before resubmission, while another one is being shipped to beta-readers/critics.

Internal: First, I’m sketching a major rewrite of one of my novel. It’s going well. I’ve figured out most of the changes. I think I’ll have to add at least two chapters to the manuscript though. Second, I’m plotting a new story. Right now, it’s still all in my head, floating about. Imagine a giant Rubik’s cube with different scenes all around it instead of colored squares. Once I have enough scenes figured out (I don’t need to fill the entire cube, but I absolutely need the beginning and the end.) then I can solve the puzzle and write my outline. Sounds weird, but it works for me. ;-)

Reading list

Since I’ve released my latest manuscript into the hands of my new beta-readers, (fresh eyes may see things I miss) I’ve been spending most of my days reading. It was either that or cleaning, so the choice was easy. I have a lot of good books I wanted to get to for a while but didn’t have the time. Plus it keeps my mind from worrying too much about the critiques I’m going to get next week. I don’t mind the critiques really; it’s the waiting that drives me nuts.
Anyway, here’s a list of the book I’ve read so far:

Hitting the reading pile

I finished my first editorial pass on my new adult sci-fi last week and sent it to my beta readers to scrutinize and judge. Gulp. I hope it doesn’t have too many warts. Fingers crossed.

In the meantime, I have a big reading pile I need to make a dent in. There a few titles in the bunch I really am looking forward to cracking open. :-)
